We are greatly inspired by the vision of our Honb’le Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi ji to strengthen strategically important corridor, the INSTC and simultaneously uphold the 70 year long diplomatic ties between India & Russia, being jointly announced by the Honb’le Russian President Vladimir Putin and our Honb’le Prime Minister at Goa during BRICS summit early this year. To convert this vision into reality KMSC has been directed by the Ministry of Indian External Affairs, hence is organising the India Russia Friendship Motor Rally.
Kalinga Motor Sports Club – KMSC is based out of Bhubaneswar and has conducted 4 similar International events [India – Nepal; BBIN – Bangladesh Bhutan India Nepal, IMT – India Myanmar Thailand & IMT – II 2017] under the aegis of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways since the year 2015. People from all these countries were participants in the last friendship motor rallies, thus developing strong bond as people to people contact.
Russia and India are celebrating the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship and to enhance it further, this event would act as a bonding agent. To commemorate these 70 year old landmarks of friendship, diplomacy and independence, year 2017-18 will see a series of celebrations of art, culture, films festivals, business seminars, exchange programs and many more events across both the countries. And “India Russia Friendship Motor Rally ” is one of the activities.

A TSD Rally event requires Drivers & Navigators to drive their Cars and bikes along an undisclosed route marked by arrows/markings/directions along with distances mentioned in a Road Book or commonly known as a ‘Tulip Chart’. Such events, also requires each team to drive at the specified Variable Average Speeds specified in the Road Book. The Variable Average Speeds necessitates teams to be at a specified location at a particular point of time. Any delay or early arrival at a particular point along the specified route will attract penalty points and as such the team with the minimum penalty points becomes the winner. This will be monitored by Marshals, posted at secret locations who will record the timings maintained by the teams. Such Variable Average Speeds will not exceed 45 KMPH in non-Highway stretches. All this requires the teams to concentrate on identifying the route, check the route markings with the physical layout and do complicated mathematical calculations for ascertaining the correct timings. This event will provide a lot of challenge to the participants to cover long distances on different road surfaces as well changed traffic profile available in Bhubaneswar and adjacent areas in this 200-300 kms (approx..) event.
